I am curious to know if my new American Strat, with and alder body, is a solid piece of wood or if it is made of numerous pieces of wood.
well, since its a standard strat it’s probably laminated (most likely three pieces of wood). however, could be a solid piece of wood. completely solid is much more expensive than laminated, so if it wasnt too expensive (like more than a 1000) its probably laminated.

Here is my 50,s reissue alder body, surf green paint. The body is quite heavy, which i like and isnt as contoured as the modern strats. When i bought it the shop worker damaged the paint and when i got it i was not pleased. was gonig to send it back, but decided it would be a long time before i could find another in this colour so decided to keep it. There are 2 small chips and a tiny hair line crack beside the neck but barely noticible just normal wear and tear. other than that its very clean, no scratches. you never notice the big hip as its always out of sight especially with a strap on but hey, its a 50’s reissue its meant to look beat up and vintage

OK im buying a fender 62 off a friend. Ive seen them go for 50 thousand and above (£) on ebay.
He doesnt know its worth this much, but thers just 1 prob. The headstock and pickguard are taken from another newer strat.
The body, neck, pickups and everything else are the same.
Im paying a thousand £ for it, how much is it worth (roughly)
The value will go down because of that, but not too much.

I want to basically scrap out my old peavy tracer, throw a floyd rose on it, some new pickups, and I also want to add a new switch. The electronics are not a problem… I am just thinking about how to route the switch. The guitar is a strat style (body and electronics) and I want to place the switch either directly behind the bridge or near the lower cutaway. My biggest concern is how to route the wires from the switch to the original electrionics. Just drill a hole between the two electronic compartments? Also looking to repaint the guitar, if anyone has suggestions for suitable paint to use?
well,
i think you should take it to a repair shop and tell them or if u know a bit about it i would drill a hole between the two or route out a track between the two and put on a removeable panel and you would definetly want to take it two the shop for the floyd rose (they can pretty risky and tricky to install) plus you would probably need to setup the guitar (adjust the components!!!
as for pain i would choose a black or metallic but since your customising you could put a custom design on it (ie. signature, your band name, fav. band.)
hope this helped

Im building a guitar from different components, and ill be using an alder stratocaster body (no paint on when sold). I was curious to know if I could install all the components and just leave the wood as is, instead of painting the body. Would it be safe to use the guitar if the wood was lacquered (or whatever process guitars usually go through)? I prefer the look of just the natural wood rather than a paint job…… thanks
yep, just be sure to do the lacquer job so the wood grain doesn’t get a lot of dirt and moisture and whatever in it and ruin the look.

This body at one time had a very vivid purple dye on it. Sadly, it faded like crazy over the years, so I wanted to refresh it. You could do this a few different ways, and I wanted to do the least impactful first, which was to shoot purple candy coat over the finish. Tinted clears (what’s also known as candy coat) are commonly used in many transparent finishes.
When I didn’t like the shade of the candy coat that I used, I decided to delicately remove the finish, expose the bare wood, and use aniline dye to bring it back to it’s former glory.

I’m sorry that you feel the need to paint the guitar.
If the finish is stripped, take a trip to an auto parts store and buy 3 big cans of Duplicolor sandable primer. Mask off the neck cavity (or else the neck won’t fit back on the guitar) and apply ALL of the primer according to the can directions. Don’t rush it.
Wait 48 to 72 hours then sand the primer smooth with 220 grit sandpaper. Apply your color and at least 10 clear coats.
Wait 7 to 10 days. Wet sand the body with 600, 800, 1000, and 1500 grit sandpaper, then buff.
I can’t count the number of botched paint jobs on guitars that have come into my shop so I would STRONGLY suggest you reconsider.

where can i get a stratacaster style body with scaloped neck and two humbuckers for metal it has to be inexpensive under $250 i live in minnesota so unless the store is in minnesota your answer has to be internet sites
Fernandez. Really great guitars.
I’m from MN too… I actually have one.
It’s probably not exactly what you’re looking for, not very much like a strat, but it’s really good quality, and it sounds good on any amp. You can put humbuckers on if you want.
Check out Bud’s Music in Hopkins if you’re in the cities. Bud’s great with fixing little things, and you can get him to do things for free if you ask nice. The teachers there are also really experienced and they’ll help you find whatever.
