How would i put a vintage tint on a MIM strat neck?
I have a MIM standard guitar rosewood fretboard, but i hate the bleached maple look of the rest of the neck. what would be all the steps needed to give it a vintage amber finish? i wanna keep the Fender logo and serial #, is that all possible?
Hi there! Take a look at the Stewart-MacDonald Vintage Amber aerosol guitar lacquer at http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Finishing_supplies/Finishes_and_solvents/2/ColorTone_Aerosol_Guitar_Lacquer/Instructions/I-5880.html#details . They also include instructions for use, plus are available to answer any detailed questions for your specific application. My guess is that you may have to rough up the existing neck surfaces slightly with a fine sandpaper or steel wool (being very careful around the decal!), but it should not be a difficult process. Best of luck with your project! Best regards, Dana
